This morning’s lesson from the Adult Life Group at my church was from the book of James, chapter 1.  A couple of key verses the teacher touched on was verses 19-21 which I have copied below.

¹⁹My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, ²⁰for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. ²¹Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you- NIV

The main point the teacher drew from these verses was to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. At times I have a short fuse and got my toes stepped on a little, that’s called godly correction. Point taken! (more…)

How would you like a glass of milk? Maybe you like yours ice cold or maybe you like a warm glass before bed.

Would you like to eat 2 cups of flour? Pretty bland eating, but I don’t think it would hurt you.

Would you eat 3 eggs raw? I wouldn’t, but I know of an old Marine that would mix 3 eggs and tabasco sauce in a coffee cup and eat it raw for breakfast. He’s done it for many years without salmonella poisoning, go figure.

Would you eat a cup of sugar by itself. Maybe with a vial of insulin on the side.

Have you ever asked God for something and it seems you got just the opposite of what you thought you wanted? You ask for help in the midst of a trial and it seems your troubles are compounded?  Have you then felt like God had thumbed his celestrial nose at you?
