I wish this could happen. I wish B.O. would listen.

“We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other liberal thinkers. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights.” (more…)
Today we are going to take a look at an example in the life of king Hezekiah, a king of Judah, on why we should stay Spiritually Alert. King Hezekiah was one of the great kings. He restored worship of God to the nation, he destroyed the idols and ‘high places’ of pagan worship. He was a devoted follower of God. Sounds pretty good doesn’t it? Yes it does, but Hezekiah was not without faults as we will see.
How would you like a glass of milk? Maybe you like yours ice cold or maybe you like a warm glass before bed.
Would you like to eat 2 cups of flour? Pretty bland eating, but I don’t think it would hurt you.
Would you eat 3 eggs raw? I wouldn’t, but I know of an old Marine that would mix 3 eggs and tabasco sauce in a coffee cup and eat it raw for breakfast. He’s done it for many years without salmonella poisoning, go figure.
Would you eat a cup of sugar by itself. Maybe with a vial of insulin on the side.
What is love? That is a question that has been asked through countless ages. And through those ages various groups have struggled to try to define it as it fits into their national, philosophical or world view.
To couples that have just laid eyes on each other it has a different meaning than for a couple married for 50 years.
For a young child that is wholly dependent on their parents for life sustenance it is different than for a teenager or an adult child.
In fact in languages such as Greek and Latin there are many different words that are translated to our English word, love.
Have you ever asked God for something and it seems you got just the opposite of what you thought you wanted? You ask for help in the midst of a trial and it seems your troubles are compounded? Have you then felt like God had thumbed his celestrial nose at you?
Following is a short photo series I received in e-mail today. I don’t know the original author, I would like to credit them and see what other works they have. If you know, please let me know. (more…)
It’s that time of year again. On my way to work and all around town I see people dressed in Statue of Liberty costumes waving at motorists. It’s tax time and they are trying to get taxpayers to have their tax filings done at Liberty Tax service. After all the times I’ve passed ‘lady liberty’ I still don’t have a good explanation about how I feel about Liberty’s advertising model(s). Do I decide to do business with Liberty so that the poor soul on the street doesn’t stand out there waving in vain? Do I by-pass a business that would put someone through the humiliation of dressing as a 123 year old woman and waving frantically at every motorist that passes? Or should I just be happy that they have a job, even if it’s short term? (more…)
In recent days much has been made about Barack Obama being the first African-American president, which has brought to mind for me again, where did we get all these hyphenated americans from anyway? The United States has long been a nation of immigrants. Ellis Island was for years the destination of those from lands far and wide looking for a brighter future. But when they arrived they came to this land to become Americans.
And actually the term ‘american’ is incorrect. Canadians are north americans, Mexicans are south americans. But somewhere in time forgotten U.S. citizens became known as Americans, UnitedStatians just doesn’t roll off the tongue too well I guess.
But how did we come to have african-americans, asian-americans, euro-americans, native-american and such? Is it political correctness or have people lost pride in being American? (more…)
